Metal Revolution Grindhead Records is once contributing to our big collection of extreme metal CD’s to be reviewed this month. Aeturnus Dominion has released their long awaited follow-up to their highly acclaimed debut Semper Tyranis. The band is coming from Australia and playing a combination of thrash, death, heavy metal and even hard rock. This new album, a nine tracker disc, is almost even faster, heavier and more extreme than the first one, but still there are some more ‘melodic’ or should I say listenable parts, so every heavy freak can enjoy listening to them. In other words they are extreme in a positive way. Another thing that I discovered while listening to Psychotic is the guitar work being totally different, I guess because of the addition of second guitarist. Almost the same can be said for the bass, which this time is more explosive and in the front than before... the vocal duties of Jester are on the top, being at times very low but deadly, reminding me of Rob Halford in his older days. The cover artwork is also nice, or it rather fits perfectly for a death/thrash release... a very good album and I’m sure any fan of The Haunted, Deicide, old Sepultura, Nevermore etc. would love this CD. It is old-school heavy fucking metal, so go and buy your own copy because these hard working guys deserve support and respect. 79/100
Aeturnus Dominion should get more exposure in magazines like Metal Maniacs & Terrorizer, play festivals like the Milwakee Metal Fest & maybe get signed to Century Media... this is the real fucking deal of the Australian devastating Metal; they will become the godfathers of a unique extreme music style & along with their die hard fans they will conquer all. This time the guitar work is totally different with the addition of a new 2nd guitarist & the bass is even explosive than before with the new bassist, the drumming continues to be a deadly insane weapon fast & hard as hell & the vocals are low & reminds me of Glen Benton meets Rob Halford... I'm totally amazed. Fans of Deicide, Nevermore, The Haunted, Sepultura, Lobotomy & Overkill will get hooked worst than with any drugs, buy it now... they really kick major ass & deserve support! |
