"I think that everyone was waiting on new material by this Australian coalition
after the debut album "Le Mort". The Day Everything Became Nothing proved to be
one of the leading grindcore bands from down under. In the past we've already
seen a couple of bands from Australia who became rather cult for one or another
reason such as Undinism and Intense Hammer Rage for instance. The ongoing Blood
Duster is from a whole different order and bands like Fuck… I'm Dead were always
pretty popular. Well, what if you combine all of these a little and mix members
from both Fuck… I'm Dead and Blood Duster? This amazing band…
Though I liked "Le Mort" already quite a lot it is pretty obvious to say that
this new mini CD is really better. What first striked me was the awesome sound,
pretty dull but heavy as fuck and with the emphasis on the drums. The usual
'swing' is definitely here again and the guttural pitch-shifted vocals too, so
on the whole I can say that there is nothing really different from their debut
album but it is clear that this album is just a logical step in the progression
each band should go through. The seventeen minute clocking mini CD contains
three new tracks, a cover and a semi-live track. That cover was the track that
surprised me the most of all material I heard from this band so far, why the
hell did they take "Fuel For Hatred" from Satyricon's last album. I'm not so
sure whether I heard a grindcore band covering a black metal track besides GUT's
version of a Blasphemy track ("Atomic Nuclear Desolation"). Apart from the great
lyrics I can't really come up with a good reason, hehe - they even took a phrase
from these lyrics as the title of this mini CD. But all in all I must admit that
the result is pretty stunning and definitely worth checking out. The live track
can be recognized for the original studio version was on the bands
aforementioned "Le Mort", with some fake audience it sounds a bit like these
fake Rammstein live tracks - there's no need to mention that The Day Everything
Became Nothing is better?
If this is an appetizer for the forthcoming album than I can't conclude anything
different than that the next album will be the final straw! Owh, and I can't let
the great artwork and pictures in the booklet be unmentioned, The Gallery Of
Suicide…" -Vampire
