Here it is. The new Razorback release. I didn't expect it to be Fuck...I'm Dead
since its one of the latest bands Billy said they signed. So it come as a bit of
a suprise, good suprise. This album is just totally freaking awesome! Everbody
could have guessed that their album would be great by just listening the stuff
on the split w/ Sanitys Dawn (which is by the way included as a bonus on the cd).
First, well the sound is quite great and powerful, and each song is more
relentless and intense than the other one. It's hyper blasting sonic grind with
a very metal sound (Kinda like Drogheda only faster, aslo heard Billy compare
them to Discordance Axis...) programmed drums used to their uttermost
possibilities, blast, blast, metal parts or groovy breaks and more blast,
alternated pissed off high-pitched screaming and deeper growls, some more blast,
very skillful, fast diverse guitar riffs, extremely well-crafted song structures
that just always leave you breathless begging for more. The two ;ast tracks are
live songs and it sounds like Fuck...I'm Dead is pretty damn tight on their live
gigs too. I didn't notice a particular theme in the song titles, looks like the
band is into a bit of humor, magnified bad taste and gratuitous violence. Can't
go wrong with that. I'll just say Razorback never disappoints, and Fuck...I'm
Dead totally rules!
Metal Shtorm
Crazy fucked up drum machine driven grind madness, if you haven't heard of this
band by now there's something wrong with you. This album was going to be
released on the guitarist's label & distro No Escape Records, but Razorback
Records who had been hoping to put out something from the band came through at
the last moment and so 'Bring On the Dead' is on that label. And for the metal
nerds out there the logo is by Roby from another awesome Melbourne grind band
The Kill, and the coverart (what the fuck) is by Sean from Impaled. Fuck ... I'm
Dead is comprised of Dave (guitar) and Tom (bass) from Arseripper, and Jay
(vocals) who is also the drummer for The Kill. Fuck ... I'm Dead was formed with
a view to play something a little different, and the use of a drum machine was a
deliberate decision to that end. So what do you get - distorted drum machine
blasting away with grind vocals and grindcore riffage with some wierd shit
thrown in. Lots of stop-n-go, some melodic touches here and there, and
occasional gratuitous metal riffs. 6 of the 23 tracks are taken from the split
7" with Sanitys Dawn on No Escape Records, so you don't feel like you've missed
out on anything, and the last two tracks are live recordings which capture a
little of the unique live FID experience. The drum machine sounds awesome and
the programming is creative. The songwriting overall is pretty wacky, there's
never a dull moment and you never know what to expect next. The vocals are
powerful and pretty over the top, with plenty of range from grind screams down
to death bellowing. Innovative, catchy, wierd, and mind numbingly heavy and
full-on, Fuck ... I'm Dead are arguably the most original and fresh sounding
band in the extreme music scene right now. Whether or not you agree, there's no
disputing that 'Bring On the Dead' is one of the more interesting releases of
late, and that this disc is essential.
